City Elections

General Election: Saturday, May 1, 2021

A General Election will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 for positions:

  • Councilmember Position 3
  • Councilmember Position 4
  • Councilmember Position 5

The requirements/qualifications to serve on the Hempstead City Council are found in the Home Rule Charter as follows:
A Candidate for Mayor or Councilmember :

  1. Shall reside within the City
  2. Must be a citizen of the United States
  3. At least eighteen (18) years of age
  4. A qualified voter residing within the City for at least twelve (12) months prior to his/her election

If you would like to file an application for a place on the General Election ballot, please stop by the City Hall (1125 Austin St.)
to pick up a Candidate Packet from the City Secretary.

The first day to file an application for a place on the ballot for Councilmember Positions 3, 4, and 5 will be January 13, 2021.
The last day to file an application for a place on the ballot will be February 12, 2021. The last day to file as a write-in candidate
will be February 12, 2021.

Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted at the following locations:
Waller County Annex - Road and Bridge - 775 Bus 290 E, Hempstead, TX 77445
Waller ISD Admin Building - 2214 Waller St., Waller, TX 77484
Waller County Community Center - 21274 FM 1098, Prairie View, TX 77446
Brookshire Convention Center - 4027 5th St. Brookshire, TX 77423
